Supervised the projects implementation until the termination of project in 1991.Wide experience was gained during this period on the initiation of activities of a large foreign funded project and execution of various project components. Commenced infrastructure development for seed production, procured equipment, developed methodologies for development of small village tanks for fish production, initiated preliminary work for planning of National Inland Fisheries Development Centre. Initiated construction of a Shrimp Hatchery Complex with a production capacity of 20 million PL annually under a turn-key project. Organized training programs for extension workers and developed a scheme for project benefit monitoring & evaluation for the Aquaculture Development Project funded by the ADB. Wide experience was gained in identifying constraints in the implementation of larger project and remedial measures that should be taken. Initial programming and implementation of project activities. Special experience was also gained on the procurement of equipment under international procedures. |

This included production trials with post larvae of penaeid shrimps, rearing of shrimps in pens and training of shrimp farmers. (c)Supervised and directly involved in the implementation of Sri Lanka Aquaculture Development Project funded by the ADB (Project duration: 5 years).
